DJ XKhan - Solitary Confinement

A little about me. My name is Alex. Born in 1974 in a very small town in Pennsylvania. I never really fit in living in a small town with a big city mentality. I was listening to rap music while most of my peers were listening to Rock. I was one of the first kids in my high school to put bass in my car. My first real exposure to electronic music was Miami Bass music. Dj Magic Mike, MC ADE and Shy D were some of my early influences.
I moved to Tampa in 1992. Loved the big city life style. Broke and knowing no one. I left Tampa to served our country for a few years.
In 1995 I made it back to Tampa. I started hitting night clubs and strip clubs on weekends. Where I would here an occasional Icey or planet soul track. That's when the break-dancers came out. I could not wait for the hiphop/booty music to stop so I could here some more of that electronic stuff. No one really called it breaks back then kind of just used the general term Techno. Not long after that I met a dancer at 2001 Odyssey (famous Tampa strip club. Well she turned out to be a hard core little raver chick.) She introduced me to The Late Night. Even back then the term Rave was considered derogatory. The music, the vibe the people. I was hooked. All week long looking forward to the weekend. My love for the music continued to grow. I would watch the dj's. Buy their mixtapes. Constantly looking for new music. I guess I wanted to start djing in 97. I knew I wanted to be involved in this scene. Unfortunately I went a different direction. I worked beside Dave Mirsky (of MARS Lighting) for a few years. In 2001 I became an unfortunate victim of the war on drugs. So I was out of circulation for some time. I did a lot of reflecting while I was gone and decided what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I kept clean and learned a trade.
I came home in 2009 to a vastly different environment. I looked for work in Tampa. No one would hire a convict fresh out. A friend offered a job in the keys and I have been down here ever since. So my goal was to eventually start DJing. I have been collecting music for the past few year with anticipation of giving it a go. Bought some cheap gear only to upgrade it in about a month. I spend a lot of time trying to master the craft. I still have a way to go. My goal was to share the Florida breaks sound to as many people as possible. Gremlin has given me this opportunity. I can't promise you flawless mixes but I can promise great tunes.
So get locked up with me for a couple hours:)
I would like to give a special tanks to Jenny & Kip.

I won't limit my show to just breakbeats occasionally you will hear other genres of EDM and maybe a hip hop track or two. This is a breakbeat show and that's what will be played the majority of the time.
