DJ Oktane - House Arrest

PhotobucketAs an original member of the infamous "FREEBASS SOCIETY", The House/Techno rebel Dj Oktane makes his dynamic return to the New Orleans underground music scene.
Growing up, his influences in music came partly from the vinyl his mom would bring home to him in the early 80's. At this time, electronic music was fairly unheard of in the United States. But certain artists were integrating forms of early "Techno" into their music. Artists like Genesis, Prince, Pet Shop Boys, and Wang Chung, to Falco, The Art Of Noise, Depeche Mode, and INXS were the very early influences that were exposed to Oktane.
Fast forward a few years, Oktane discovers Industrial and starts to refine a sound in his mind. Taste in music that he enjoyed as a kid soon evolved into a darker, more abstract sound.
Soon, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Front 242, NiN and other Industrial acts started to create a sound that was getting ever more appealing to Oktane's ear, but they just were not scratching the aural itch that he suffered.
Eventually, New Orleans had started to get a "Rave" scene. On any random Saturday night while driving around, Oktane had listened to a Techno radio show called "The Sound Factory" hosted by Dj Micheal Scott. But even before that, a movie released named "Cool World" released a soundtrack which contained a track called "Mindless" by "Mindless". Up until that point, Oktane was just a shuffle, pop-lock, roll kid from the northshore. After that track of pure unabashed bliss, absorbed into his mind, the State Palace Theater and Thousands upon Thousands would never be the same again.
1995, Oktane steps into the scene getting his first breaks in the Baton Rouge scene. Eventually finding headway into New Orleans and meeting up with the now legendary promoter "Disco". Oktane joins Disco Productions with fellow New Orleans legend Starbaby.
Eventually, the New Orleans scene starts to grow at an alrming rate. Partnerships are formed from friendships and common intrest. The Crew "Moon Patrol", whose talent included Stryfe, Evil Eddie, Housefly, and other New Orleans legends, joined up with Disco Productions to create the phenom that would become, "The FreeBass Society".
Stryfe, Starbaby, Oktane, Cease, Zach, and Donnie were all part of an underground music revolution that became worldwide.
From bringing the roof down in the pouring rain with bangin Chi House, to empowering thousands on the main floor at the State Palace with the knowledge and tools to ascend out of body with Deep, Intelligent, Filtered French and Tech House. Oktane's skills as a mixologist can not be denied.
Seamless filtered loop mixing and bass drops are some of the specialties that Oktane excell in. As well as having a remarkable talent for track selection and crowd control, Oktane's dancefloor energy can almost be physically seen as a kinect ball of four on the floor electricity.
Having taken a couple of years off to focus on personal growth, Oktane has returned with a more slick and matured sound. As years progress, Oktane's sound has as well. Constantly evolving, but remaining completly unique. Oktane has played among almost every top Dj from 1997-2008. He has also played to thousands in the days of the State Palace, representing Freebass Society's Hard House side in most all of Freebass's premire events. Zoolu's, Stripper Sluts, Dj is God/Devil, Yar's, Onslaught, FreakFest, the list goes on. From 97-'01, there was not many New Orleans functions that Oktane was not a part of. Oktane has also played many parties in all of the Gulf states.
Oktane will forever remain one of New Orleans premire HardHouse/Techno Dj's. With a weekly internet radio show on GremlinRadio.com and Demos at [-link-]

With the return of Dj Oktane, also comes the producer Oktane. For the first time in his career, Oktane is producing 2 tracks that will be released in August. Promisinng to bring some of the most mind bending filterd Gangstah House straight from the N.O.
Oktane uses Ableton 7, M-Audio Torq 2.0 software with Xponent hardware respectivley.
